Pasta Carbonara: A Classic Italian Dish Bursting with Flavor
A classic Italian pasta dish featuring a creamy sauce made with eggs, cheese,
and crispy pancetta.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces of spaghetti or fettuccine
- 4 ounces of pancetta, diced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
- Salt to taste
- Chopped parsley and extra Parmesan cheese for garnish
Steps
Step 1: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 3: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, Parmesan cheese, and black pepper. Set aside.
Step 4: Cook the pasta in the boiling water until al dente. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup of the
cooking water.
Step 5: Quickly add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the pancetta. Toss to combine and
heat the pasta.
Step 6: Remove the skillet from heat and slowly pour in the egg mixture, stirring continuously.
The residual heat will cook the eggs and create a creamy sauce.
Step 7: If needed, slowly add the reserved pasta water to thin out the sauce. Season with salt
and additional black pepper to taste.
Step 8: Serve the pasta carbonara immediately, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and
chopped parsley.
