Classic Pasta Pomodoro Recipe - Simple and Flavorful Italian Dish


Ingredients:


- 12 ounces fresh pasta

- 4 tablespoons olive oil

- 3 cloves garlic, minced

- 2 (14-ounce) cans of whole peeled tomatoes

- Salt and black pepper to taste

- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

- Fresh basil leaves

- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving


Instructions:


1. Cook the fresh pasta according to the package instructions until it's al dente. Drain and set aside.


2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until it becomes fragrant.


3. Crush the canned tomatoes by hand and add them to the skillet with their juices. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if you like it slightly spicy). 


4. Simmer the tomato sauce for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and the oil begins to separate from the tomato mixture.


5. Tear some fresh basil leaves and add them to the sauce, leaving a few for garnish.


6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss it in the sauce until it's well-coated.


7. Serve your Pasta Pomodoro in individual plates, garnished with more fresh basil and a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
