These delectable treats are deep-fried to a golden perfection and can be coated with granulated sugar for an extra touch of sweetness. Perfect for breakfast or as a snack, Vanilla Donuts are a classic and beloved pastry that's sure to satisfy your cravings for a tasty, comforting dessert.

Ingredients for the Dough:

- 75 ml milk

- 7 grams instant yeast (1 tablespoon)

- 25 grams white caster sugar

- 16 grams vanilla sugar (2 packets)

- 150 grams vanilla custard

- 1 egg (medium size)

- 45 grams unsalted butter

- 450 grams all-purpose flour

- 16 grams baking powder

- 4 grams salt (approximately 2/3 teaspoon)

For Coating:

- Granulated sugar (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a deep bowl, combine the milk, instant yeast, white caster sugar, and vanilla sugar. Mix well and let the mixture rest for 5 minutes.

2. Add the vanilla custard to the mixture and stir until it's smooth.

3. Gradually add the beaten egg while stirring.

4. Now, add the unsalted butter, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix all the ingredients until they form a cohesive dough.

5. Knead the dough for 10-12 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

6. Cover the dough with a clean cloth or plastic wrap and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place or until it doubles in size.

7. After the dough has risen, transfer it to a floured work surface and roll it out into a square sheet.

8. Cut the dough into pieces using a pizza cutter or a knife, and then let the dough pieces rise for an additional 30 minutes, or until they double in size again.

9. Heat a layer of sunflower oil in a frying pan over medium heat (175°C or 347°F).

10. Fry the pieces of dough (donuts) in the hot oil until both sides are golden brown. This will take a few minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to turn them for even cooking.

11. Once the donuts are golden brown and cooked through, remove them from the oil and place them on a sheet of kitchen paper to drain any excess oil.

12. Optionally, you can coat the vanilla donuts in granulated sugar for a sweet finish.

13. Enjoy your homemade Vanilla Donuts!

These donuts are deliciously fluffy and sweet, making them a perfect treat for any time of day. You can also replace the vanilla sugar with vanilla extract if you prefer. If you have a donut cutter, you can use it to shape the donuts for a more traditional look.
