This cheesy baked ziti is packed with flavor and perfect for a cozy night in.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) ziti pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1/2 pound (225g) Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Steps

1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. Cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant,
 about 1 minute.

4. Add ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
Drain excess fat.

5. Pour in your favorite marinara sauce and stir well. Let the sauce simmer for 5-10 minutes.

6. In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, and beaten eggs.

7. Add half of the cooked ziti pasta to a large baking dish. Spread half of the meat sauce
on top. Then, spoon half of the cheese mixture evenly over the sauce.

8. Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, sauce, and cheese mixture.

9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until heated through
and bubbly.

10. Remove the foil and sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.

11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
